Hans Nielsen Hauges etikk mellom tradisjon og nytolkning

Resumé

The literature on Hans Nielsen Hauge (1771-1824) ranges from hagiographic to extensive research contributions. In this material there is both a certain connection and a significant gap. With today’s focus on entrepreneurship, the work on Hauge’s ethics has gained particular interest. In this context, it is striking how little interest has been attached to the meaning of the Ten Commandments as we know the commandments in the current catechetic tradition Hauge was raised in. In Hauge’s writings and letters, this tradition is found everywhere, both explicitly and implicitly. For the research community, it is crucial that one manages to keep apart Hans Nielsen Hauge as a child of his time and his own historical contribution on the one side and the many Hauge images that have later seen the light of day on the other side. In this article, the commandments are put in focus and understood as context and an integral part of Hauge’s Christianity.
